Type of Wood Most indoor benches are wood, or they have at least some wood in them. The first thing to think about when selecting a bench is the type and color of the wood you already have in your home. If the bench will go in a room where you have other furniture, try to match the wood of the bench with the other pieces. If it will go in an entryway or hallway, then think about what other things are around them. You can match an indoor bench to kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets, wood trim, or just about anything else in your home. You just dont want the bench to look out of place.
Spend some time out there and identify just what are feels the best to you. Bring a chair outside and just sit in it in different spots until you get a feeling of being in the right spot. Then you must ask yourself, can this spot be turned into an outdoor living room? How will you connect it to visually to your house? Are there interior elements of your home that you can repeat outside? How will you connect your new outdoor living room physically to your house? How will get there from inside your house? There must be an easy way to go from inside to outside and back inside. I cant stress this aspect of the design enough so. Smooth transition between inside and out is how you start feeling like your outdoor living room is really just another room of your house; an extension of your home.
And while youre looking at pieces to serve as indoor benches, dont forget the classic cedar chest. Perfect for storing heirlooms, extra bedding or wool sweaters, you can add a pad to the top and voila!, instant bench for any room in your home. Flexibility is key when selecting a bench for the home. As your needs change or as you redecorate, you may find that your indoor benches will find new homes over time. If you redecorate often, keep this in mind. You may be able to give a room a complete makeover simply by moving pieces you already own around. An old piece in a new room can do wonders and indoor benches are often overlooked for this purpose.
There are a number of styles of beds, so you can choose from sleigh beds to metal beds to platform beds to king-sized beds. The platform beds are for those who like their furniture to be without any frills and fancies. These beds are quite easy to assemble and are liked by people due to their understated elegance. The sleigh beds spell sophistication and class. The bedroom is also the place where one can dress at ease; thus, having a mirror and a dresser is an absolute must for your room. Accentuate the sense of space in your room by getting a wall-mounted mirror designed in the contemporary style. You can also get the mirrors designed in elegant wrought iron with a beautiful patina finish.
Considering a garden as an outdoor room is nothing new to garden designers. The concept is just now making its way into the public consciousness. But just what are outdoor living rooms? Are they places where you try to recreate your indoor living room outdoors? No, not exactly. Are they places like your deck, patio or terrace where you just plop down a set of furniture and hope that youll feel like spending time out there? No, that wont do either. An outdoor living room is a space outside of your house, built with materials suitable to the outdoors, where you will actually want to spend time! Its also a state of mind, the idea of living life outdoors.
