In addition to size, you also need to consider what functions you want your bedroom bench to provide you with. Different benches serve different needs. If you just want a place to sit while you put on your socks and shoes, almost any bedroom bench will serve your needs. However, if you would like your bedroom bench to provide you with storage space, youll want a bench that doubles as a storage trunk.
And while youre looking at pieces to serve as indoor benches, dont forget the classic cedar chest. Perfect for storing heirlooms, extra bedding or wool sweaters, you can add a pad to the top and voila!, instant bench for any room in your home. Flexibility is key when selecting a bench for the home. As your needs change or as you redecorate, you may find that your indoor benches will find new homes over time. If you redecorate often, keep this in mind. You may be able to give a room a complete makeover simply by moving pieces you already own around. An old piece in a new room can do wonders and indoor benches are often overlooked for this purpose.
Seating - bedroom benches, lounges and sofas are used for seating when you would rather not sit on your bed, such as when reading a book or the newspaper or drinking some coffee that may spill. Clothes Storage - dressers, chest of drawers, armoires and bed benches can all serve as places to store clothes. There are also beds nowadays that come with storage built in so there are drawers underneath the bed which can be used to store clothing or bedding or whatever you see it fit for.
Type of Wood Most indoor benches are wood, or they have at least some wood in them. The first thing to think about when selecting a bench is the type and color of the wood you already have in your home. If the bench will go in a room where you have other furniture, try to match the wood of the bench with the other pieces. If it will go in an entryway or hallway, then think about what other things are around them. You can match an indoor bench to kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets, wood trim, or just about anything else in your home. You just dont want the bench to look out of place.
First lets discuss: What is a room? Basically its an enclosed space. There are walls, a ceiling and a floor, some windows and a few doors. Even if your house has an open floor plan where you have one or two large interconnected rooms, rather than a series of smaller rooms, there are areas within those large rooms that are partially enclosed, not with walls, but with elements like decorative screens, potted plants, or bookshelves. This sense of being enclosed, thus protected, is what makes a room comfortable to be in. There are other things that bring a feeling of comfort but they are secondary to this primary sense of enclosure.
