Spend some time out there and identify just what are feels the best to you. Bring a chair outside and just sit in it in different spots until you get a feeling of being in the right spot. Then you must ask yourself, can this spot be turned into an outdoor living room? How will you connect it to visually to your house? Are there interior elements of your home that you can repeat outside? How will you connect your new outdoor living room physically to your house? How will get there from inside your house? There must be an easy way to go from inside to outside and back inside. I cant stress this aspect of the design enough so. Smooth transition between inside and out is how you start feeling like your outdoor living room is really just another room of your house; an extension of your home.
Another important consideration when thinking about type of wood is durability. Solid wood benches will last a lot longer and take a lot more abuse than benches that are made of MDF, or medium density fiberboard. If you arent sure whether the bench is sold wood or MDF, then just try to pick it up and see how heavy it is. A solid wood bench will be a lot heavier than one made of MDF.
When shopping for indoor benches, there are some things to keep in mind. First, where are you planning to put the bench. If its in an entryway, you may want to go with a bench that has storage under the seat so you can hide away winter gloves and hats. A classic hall tree is another good choice, as many have a built in seat so you can change in and out of your shoes. If your planning to put use indoor benches in your halls, youll want to be sure you pick styles that dont impede movement through the space. Nothings worse than being tagged out by a bench in the middle of the night during a trip to the kitchen.
Indoor benches are a great addition to your starting lineup of home furnishings. They are perfect for nearly any room of the home and will give you plenty of options when it comes to updating your room layouts.
The bathroom is another place where we rarely have enough room to store all the essentials. Add an indoor bench with deep storage, and you have a perfect place to store towels, rolls of bathroom tissue, and spare bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bars of soap, and shower gel. Even if you have only enough room for a small vanity storage bench, use the space inside to store your hair dryer, flat iron, and combs and brushes.
