If storage is not what you had in mind by purchasing an indoor bench, then think about what other kind of use it will be for. If the bench is for people who are removing their shoes at the door, then you may want a smaller bench that will fit in the entryway. Just remember to measure the amount of space that is available before setting out to select the right bench.
The living room should be a place for relaxing as well as housing everything from DVDs and games to books and magazines. Therefore it needs to have plenty of the right storage. Prevent overcrowding by looking for dual-purpose furniture: coffee tables with extra draws, shelving to hold books and accessories and large lidded baskets, which are perfect for storing throws and will double up as a side table.
Window Seat All you need to create a window seat is a bench with drawers or, even simpler, boxes or baskets, lined up beneath the window sill. Go for cushions or seat pads to make it comfortable. With the additional seating and storage that a window seat provides you may even find you can lose an armchair or cabinet and create more floor space. The garden bench is a fixture of outdoor furnishings. We rely on them as a resting place and a meeting places when we visit our yards, city gardens, and even amusement parks. This outside staple has been adapted for our homes, and now, its a great idea to put an indoor bench in almost any room in our house.
Furnishings like benches and tabletops can be made out of say, cast concrete for a real permanent feel, or obtained from a myriad of sources. Manufacturers are offering many new choices for furniture and lighting designed specifically for the outdoors as well as much better selections than ever for tough but nice fabrics for outdoor furniture, cushions, pillows, rugs and shades. Almost anything you can dream up as a way of making your outdoor living room more comfortable is now available for purchase online and off.
Type of Wood Most indoor benches are wood, or they have at least some wood in them. The first thing to think about when selecting a bench is the type and color of the wood you already have in your home. If the bench will go in a room where you have other furniture, try to match the wood of the bench with the other pieces. If it will go in an entryway or hallway, then think about what other things are around them. You can match an indoor bench to kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets, wood trim, or just about anything else in your home. You just dont want the bench to look out of place.
